Odododiodio NDC, NPP Clash: Police Must Arrest Culprits to Improve Public Trust - NCCE Chairperson
Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Mrs. Josphine Nkrumah has urged the police to arrest all culprits in the Odododiodio violence clash to improve public trust.
The Chairperson indicated that, since the incident happened, all they see or hear is counter accusations of both parties and she thinks this will not bring about law and order in resolving the issue and so, the police must stand up to their feet in bringing sanity in the Odododiodio Constituency as the public is solidly behind them in dealing with the matter swiftly to serve as a deterrbet to others.
She continued that, if the police does not rise to their mandates in delivering law and sanity into the matter, it would seem as if the work of CSOs in ensuring peace, law and order before, during and after elections would be in vain, hence, the need for the police to invite all political actors and culprits for investigations to ensure public trust and order.
Mrs Josphine Nkrumah speaking on PM Express on Joy News continued there is the need to condemn the act as it is prone to political voilence and called for assurance from the police on how controlling they can be in handling issues of political violence as far as elections and public law and order is concerned.
"We hope that the leaders of both parties involed in the voilence will hand over their members who are culprits in the Odododiodio violence to police for their statements to be taken for investigations to prove their committment in the process of peace and a peaceful elections" She stressed.
