PEACE WALKS SHOULD BE REGULATED AHEAD OF ELECTIONS - EXEC. SEC PEACE COUNCIL
The Executive Secretary of the Peace Council, Mr. George Amoh has urged for the regulations of peace walks ahead of the elections following the clash of some NDC and NPP youth in the Odododiodio Constituency.
Mr George Amoh explained that, due to the violence which took place at the Odododiodio Constituency, it would be very necessary for the police service to quickly investigate the incident and make arrest because the general public is behind them in ensuring peace in the Constituency.
He added also that, as the police is embarking on investigations, it would be important if they get the environment right to act thus, in as much as the police would do their part in ensuring peace, it would be very keen if a framework is brought up to regulate peace walks ahead of elections.
"It is important we regulate conduct of party activities ahead of elections because, looking at what happened at Odododiodio Constituency, how can a peace walk generate into violence, we must regulate them. " he said.
Mr. George Amoh speaking on PM Express on Joy News also hinted that, in as much people are endulging in political violence, we should aslo bear in mind that vigilantism and offence act has been passed to punish offenders who fall victim to breaching the act.
