SWEDRU 4 ARMED SUSPECT ARREST: MP AGONA WEST ISSUES FORMAL COMPLAINT TO POLICE
The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer DSP Irene Oppong has disclosed that the Member of Parliament for Agona West Hon. Cynthia Morrison has made a formal complaint to the police following the arrest of the 4 armed armed suspects at a hotel by the Swedru Divisional police patrol team on Saturday October 17, 2020.
According to the DSP, Hon Cynthia Morrison's complaint indicates that the four armed men who were arrested by the police at the hotel had a plot to kill her and so her statement has been taken and investigations are on going.
DSP Irene Oppong added that, on the 19th of October 2020, the four armed suspects who were arrested by the police at a hotel in Swedru has been remanded into police custody by Her Honor Mrs. Dorinda Attah to reappear on the 30th of October 2020.
The suspects were cautioned on the charges :
1. Preparations to commit crime to wit murder
2. Carrying of offensive weapons.
She also revealed the invitation of the NDC Parliamentary andidate Mr. Paul Ofori Amoah who has also reported at the Regional Police Headquarters and has admitted of issuing the two bank checks that was picked by the police at the hotel when a search was done on the suspects.
Currently, the Parliamentary Candidate is at the Regional CID and is assisting police with investigations and is caution statement has been taken on
1. Abetment to commit crime to wit murder.
2. Preparation to commit crime (murder).
However upon this development, the Central Regional Police has assured the general public of ongoing investigations on the two issues that they are investigating and is appealing to the general public to inform the police with any information connected to the suspects who were arrested on suspicion at Swedru.
